  • haldenver grow up he never met elvis, the man lies out of his arse.........

  • You say proby had no connections with elvis, in their teens they knew one another, pj's stepsister Betty dated elvis and proby played in elvis's football team.

Check out the houseofproby website you can hear two of the 15 demos Jett Powers/P J Proby did for elvis to learn songs from they are Slowly but surely and Fun in acapulco. Ben Weisman who wrote 57 songs for elvis always used proby for demos whenever he could.

Elvis and the colonel must have liked the demos of a young jim

  • @jimproby What were the titles of the 15 songs Jett Powers/P J Proby demo'd for Elvis?

  • @MesaUnderground Hi, sorry about delay.

I got the information about the 15 or 16 demos that PJ/JETT did for Elvis from a radio interview PJ did for a New York radio show about 2 years ago.

We know about Fun in Acapulco and Slowly but Surely PJ said he did the 15 demos from Kid Galahad (1961) to Slowly but Surely (Tickle Me 1965) and the demos he did were written by Ben Wiseman who he worked for. The demos were in that time span but no other information has ever been made known.

    Regards Steve.

  • @jimproby Thanks Steve. I take it then that if nobody knows the other song titles it isn't known whether any of them were used in the movies or soundtrack albums. There were lots of songs submitted for those movies that didn't make the cut. I asked some questions on the Youtube uploads of the two songs you mentioned but the owner never answered me.

  • P.J.Proby.....one of the best voices ever & one of the most interesting characters in show biz......truly a one-off! Ron

  • happy birthday, Jim!
