This is demo of the Twang King model by Texas Twang Masters Guitars . I've tried to show all of the various tones that are possible with this guitar and explain what I like about it.

  • How is the output compared with a P90? My main guitar at the moment is a Gibson Les Paul Special, but I like the sound of these more. I just want to know if they can drive an amp as easily by themselves, or if I would be better off with a clean boost pedal to compliment it.

  • @Anitrop The TV Jones Filtertrons are actually a humbucking style pickup, just a little smaller than a normal humbucker. In terms of output level I would say they are somewhere between a normal humbucker and a P-90. They have plenty of output of output to drive an amp all on their own. I use several types of overdrive pedals with mine, depending on the sound I want. In some ways the pickups sound very P-90 like to me, but they have more of a sparkle to them as compared to P90's.

  • thank you, ive been considering getting this pickup combination for my tele, and now im sold :) to my ears, the bridge sounds similar to a p90, but with more sparkle and less mids. perfect!!

  • @aektzis91 Yes, you're right. The Flitertrons are more similar to a P-90 tone than the usual Tele single-coil pickup, but they have more sparkle to them. These pickups deliver some great sounds. I've been using this guitar in a band that does surf music, Beach Boys, and rock-a-billy stuff and it's perfect for those tones.

  • @jwp2460 I play alot of keith richards (stones) and pete townsend (the who) stuff aswell, are these pickups appropriate for rock n' roll stuff aswell??

  • @aektzis91 Sure, these pickups will definitely do the rock-n-roll thing too. Think of a Gretch DuoJet. This is the type of tone you would expect with these pickups. You could certainly do the Keith Richards sound with these but a better choice for his sound would probably be actual Tele-style pickup, if you wanted to nail Keith's sound exactly. The Filtertrons make everything sound a bit more retro, I love that. They are one of the best pickups I found for doing vibey rhythm guitar parts.

  • Great sounds and excellent playing. A very effective demo'.

  • EGNATER AMP!!! WOOO!!!

  • I like that jazz tone. It sound Jim Hall-ish.

  • This looks much better than the production model... which seems to be just an attempt to look slightly less like a Telecaster.

  • So it's a gretsch due jet with a different shaped body?

  • wow!! sounds like a million bucks!!
