About Us:

The Obesity Management Program, as part of the Bariatric Surgery service, is an American Society for Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, a designation that recognizes obesity treatment programs that are comprehensive in nature and demonsrate a track record of positive outcomes in bariatric surgery. The program offers both medical and surgical approaches to weight loss, with the two most common surgical procedures being Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and adjustable gastric banding. 

GBMC offers an extensive multidisciplinary team approach to caring for bariatric patients based on criteria established by the National Institutes of Health. In addition to a specially trained clinical staff of surgeons, operating room nurses, nurse practitioners and nutritionists, the program offers access to exercise and wellness programs, extensive patient education via pre- and post-operative support groups, psychiatric consultation, pulmonary consultation and sleep studies.
Our Center

The Comprehensive Obesity Management Program at GBMC is a surgical weight loss program located in Towson, MD. Its physicians specialize in weight loss surgery for morbidly obese patients, providing a multi-disciplinary approach to caring for patients. The program offers outstanding patient results through a full range of surgical weight loss options.

Center of Excellence

GBMC's Comprehensive Obesity Management Program is the oldest recognized American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Center of Excellence in the Metropolitan Baltimore area. The Center of Excellence designation was recertified in April 2009. The Center of Excellence designation recognizes obesity management programs that are comprehensive in nature and demonstrate outstanding track records of positive patient results.
