This probably means you have a corrupt card. You should be able to format using your PC. You'll need a USB card reader. Connect it to a PC, not a MAC, and hopefully the drive appears in "My Computer". Right click the drive and choose Format. Make sure the format settings are FAT16, give it any name you want and choose Full Format, not Quick. If that works, place the card back in the camera and try using it to format again. If it doesn't work, at least cards are cheap. I hope that helps.
