  • I wonder how many people know who was the arranger for SJ's orchestra. As for the writing, if you listen to sonu's rafi resurrected concert, you will hear the orchestration of Indian songs more pristine than ever. Then compare the writing with any of the two in question. You can't write a ghazal in ghalib's style a century after him and compare him or her with the great man himself. I hope you understand what I am trying to convey.

  • I love SJ, but in your reverence please don't loose touch from reality. Indian film buffs love to compare their favourites with Mozart and Beethoven. I wonder if any of them actually listen to those legendary composers. Go and listen to the overture of 'marriage of Figaro' for example. 150 years before SJ and writing is still miles ahead. By bringing in more musicians doesn't necessarily mean that you are better. And do you actually know what is a symphony? Any orchestral piece is certainly not

  • Well noted and well done shashibhushanhegde

  • Whatever we express in appreciation of SJ will always be shorts of words and expressions.

They were the greatest Music Directors gave such a music which is still popular even after 60 years.

  • Mr. umaj26, to some extent I agree with you but you know, those all assistants must have composed individually in their life time also but how come those compositions never became popular? I would therefore say that they were indeed a great violin players but it was the direction of Shankar Jaikishan which made those compositions famous and popular. Also, how do you know that they have never acknowledged them during their life time?

  • did u know that these pieces were put together by Goan organisers as assistants to SJ and other filmy music directors .. guys like Frank Ferdinand, Anthony Gonsalves, Chic Choclate.. hate it when all the credit goes to SJ.. at least Pyarelal acknowledged their genius

  • The greatest musicians of Indian film industry.

  • Even if you go to their background scores in various films it is a treat for music lovers.

  • Dost, aaj tumne phir aakhon ko bhar diya yaar.

  • A very good job done. One song missing wasHai aag hamare seene mein' from Jis Desh Mein.... where hundred orchestras were used including violins.
