  • Only Ray Milland could pull off a handsome cornered alcoholic rat! Love the opposites!!

  • @sinsitysisterssinema Check out "Golden Earrings" ---fun movie with Deitrich.

  • Many people don't realize this, but the main character was originally written to be gay--obviously, at that time, that was not an acceptable idea--he was then turned into an alcoholic. Couldn't they have made him a gay alcoholic? Then all would have been happy! Still- a terrific film dealing with a very real issue. Milland was an inspired choice--wonderful performance (he was fluent in Welsh). By the way, the character's brother is actor Phillip Terry--Joan Crawford husband no. 3!

  • wow, my parents had the exact same laundry hamper...and probably the same chair too

  • One of the best movies.........ever.

  • Terrific and groundbreaking movie. Perfect part for Milland. By this point in his career he took on that always cranky and constipated look, and it fits the character perfectly. Would have been interesting to see it played by someone with a more pleasant demeanor, as alcoholics often have. Who'd be charmed by Ray Millands cranky look?

  • Great movie thanks, cant believe I never watched it until now.

  • Thanks for posting that movie. The first time I saw it was in 1973 when I sat alone in the dark sitting room at 22h p.m. (12 years old than. The TV screen was the only light source.) and had terrible nightmares the later night because "the bat and mouse" scene. As far as I now the german TV stations never repeat that movie since. Now I see what a pretty attractive cute girl (woman) Jane Whitman was in 1945 and movies were better at all !

  • @GJNCA 5t's still a great movie.

  • Muchisimas gracias Marcia por esta pelicula, que tenia tantas ganas de ver.

    Saludos desde Sevilla. Miguel
