In this episode, Anne-Marie shows how to preserve the color in your soap. First, she demonstrates
how to use UV inhibitor - a product that helps prevent fading due to ultra violet light. Then she
shows how to use Vanilla Color Stabilizer. This additive helps to impede the browning caused by the
Vanillin present in many fragrances. So follow along as the soap queen makes a cute peachy owl
soap and yummy Vanilla Bean bar!

  • Whats UV stabilizer made from? I'm working on making organic soaps, but I'm guessing this might not be useable in organic snaps.

  • @TheSereneSparkle Our UV inhibitor is Benzophenone-3, which is a chemical that is often used in sunscreens (but UV inhibitor is not a sunscreen on its own). So it isn't natural, but it is commonly used.

  • I did use fragrance. It even discolored the thin layer without fragrance though.

  • @trexteena Did you use Vanilla Color Stabilizer?

  • @trexteena I have had that happen as well, but not when I us VCS. Did you use Vanilla Color Stabilizer and the discoloration still bled? Regardless, that's frustrating! Hang in there.

  • @Jennifer2k89

I did use fragrance. Where did it say that I didn't? Anyway. I made a thin layer without fragrance but the next layer with fragrance discolored and the discoloration, not the soap dye, bled into the layer with no fragrance.

  • @trexteena Why would you use a stabilizer if you're not using fragrance? The whole point of the vanilla stabilizer is to counter the fragrance that you add; so yeah.

  • @sweeteababy0427 We haven't found the Bramble Berry VCS to be very effective in Lotions - but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there! Also be sure to keep an eye on our Bramble Berry site - we are in the midst of testing new Vanilla Color Stabilizer so maybe we will have one soon!

  • Does the vanilla color stabilizer work in lotions?

  • I Love Anne-Marie!
