It's about time this place turned into a shit-hole. Knock it down. Also for those who lived there and think your getting back in when it's completed keep dreaming. Your the reason why it was torn down in the first place.

1. They have already completed one building and people have moved back in and are living in it now.

2. Most of people who left, are coming back.

3. The reason the buildings are being demolished is bc it would cost the city more to keep their maintenace.

My family lived in Regent when it was first built and throughout the better part of the seventies. It was agreat tight community. It was only scary if u had something to fear. and mixeddmami416 is right. it is home to so many wether they wereonly there for a year or there for life. It was what you made it. Its so sad to see an era ending. Many greats came out of regent. The only ones who call it a bad place didnt live there. Only outsiders looking in.

Why are they're so many haters of Regent?... I'm 26 years old, and have lived in Regent Park since 1985. I couldn't imagine growing up any place else. I've expeirenced alot of things negative and positive. I can tell you about some real horror stories, but there is more to Regent than the bad things. Like all the wonderful life long friends I've had since childhood. All the fun times we had, like sunday in the park and Block-o-rama, going to Park Public School, eating at the "root & burger"...

But the media fails to show all the good that has come from Regent Park. Musicans, artists, nurses, actors... Some say we "rep" to hard. But when you come from a place where ur not expected to get past 10th grade, expected to be a drug user/seller, expected to have a child by 15yrs old... and when we prove people wrong. It feels so good!!!!

@ricksgarl lived there in the early 60;s./70's. .. great memories, street dances behind the Root n' Burger. hot summer days running through the sprinkler, cool evenings setting up a lawn chair to watch movies on the wall behind the boiler room beside beckers plaza...the worst thing to ever happen back then was getting stuck in an elevevator, or gettin caught pissin' in the fire escape, the only time you ever heard sirens? was the odd Sat. night brawl or a false alarm..sweet dreams Regent :(
