I have to disagree slightly, Democrats weren't the party they were today until the early 1960s, before then, they were the "White man's party". They supported slavery, (and then reaped heavy taxes on the incredibly wealthy plantation owners). Hence why Abraham Lincoln (being Republican) freed the slaves. But after 1960s, they became the all-around party of the people. They supported equal rights, welfare, abolition of drug laws, abolition of illegal wars (like Vietnam, and Iraq), etc etc.

I have put forth a question several times & none have been able to answer it.
