This holy city in Rajasthan gets transformed into a total zoo during the November full moon. The festival bagan as a way to congregate the best breeding stock back in the day; it's a bit of a tourist trap now, but if you venture back into the seedy horse trading area away from the tourist showcase, it's an unparalelled adventure in horse flesh, from half dead nags, to a lot of hot blooded "dancing" horses. (I think this is India's version of dressage, but trained from the ground). Some of these owners really treat their horses well and still employ the old techniques - like 4-person hot oil massage on horses!
