Thanks to Annettesmusic and mcurren2004, I now know who wrote this lovely song and its proper title! Thank you dear ladies so much for your help!

Here's a song I learned from a song book at a little church in Northern California called the Sonoma Mountain Lighthouse Church. When I first uploaded it, I had no idea who wrote it, because there was no credit given and the words are slightly different than the original version. The song book was just a small three ring binder with type-written pages of words with no music. The only way to know how the song went was to hear someone sing it who knew it. Anyway, I've always liked the song, ever since I first heard it, so I'd like to share it here. Hope it ministers to some of you.

To Jesus every day
I find my heart is closer drawn
You're fairer than the sons of men
And fresher than the dawn
You're all that I can say of You
And infinitely more
And every day You're sweeter
Than You were the day before

The half cannot be fancied
Of such a treasure store
And every day you're sweeter
Than you were the day before

My life is often weary
But You come with sweet relief
And take me to the place
Where only God and man can meet
You give me everything
And yet there's always something more
And every day You're sweeter
Than You were the day before

The half cannot be fancied...

Your glory broke upon us
When we saw you in the night
You gave us light and sight
And promised we would be your wife
You fill and satisfy
Our longing spirits more and more
Each day You grow still sweeter
Than You were the day before

  • Love this song. My hymnal from 1947 states this song was written in 1927. Very nice singing and playing!

  • @kellynga Thank you! That information is helpful!

  • I wasn't familiar with this one. It's a great little song. Sometimes the simpler and plainer spoken it is, the deeper it holds meaning, don't you think? Great job, Jack.

  • Yes, that's what I've pretty much always thought. Take a song like Jesus Loves Me. It's a great song for kids because it's easy to sing, and easily understood, but really one of the most profound songs ever written. God is all about love, regardless of what else one may have heard about Him, or seen demonstrated by those should have done better. Thanks Jeff! Blessings on you!

  • "...those should have done better..." that's probably me. Thanks, Jack.

  • Me too, I'm afraid...
