Google translate can help people figure out the meaning of the words. When talkings began, many times stars had someone speaking their lines for them. It is called dubbing. Same with singing. Many people thought Julie Andrews' voice was dubbed for her high notes in the Sound of Music. Early videos of her performing tells us this is not so. Later performances of Josephine tells us this is not true, either. She sounds the same.

what a shock that this voice (and accent!) evolved in such a way - her voice in the last 20 or so years of life was night and day compared to this. Neverthless she is absolutely charming here, and radiantly beautiful!
Sad to say we'll never see the likes of a Josephine Baker again. In addition to her slinky sensuality, she had a style and elegance that is sadly lacking in today's so-called entertainers.
