  • There is a German recording (sung in English) called Du, du bist so wundervoll, posted by Deutschlandsender. Both versions are very good!

  • Great song and tone!

  • Just as great as the Art Deco era it came from. Pure class!!

  • Indeed, this song was written for "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936), with music by Walter Donaldson and lyrics by Harold Adamson. This recording was the third number-one hit for Dorsey in 1936; his first that year was also with vocalist Edythe Wright, "The Music Goes Round and Round."

The Internet Archive have a collection of twenty recordings by Wright & Dorsey available for free, most with good sound quality; alas, this outstanding recording is not amongst them.

  • Really great- had it on an old tape and so glad it's here.

  • Tommy was first a business man, albiet very self-centered, and secondly a musician of the most intellictual order. He was better with a buck than he was with a D/sharp. It was rumored that he had an affair with her and promised he would rid his wife or some such matter; strictly from the rumor factory, nothing solid.

  • the beginnings cut off !! about 10 seconds or so of it !!

  • This song was one of the numbers, too in the great MGM musical, "The Great Ziegfeld."

  • I think Edythe Wright was the coolest Big Band girl singer ever! Something of a mystery woman after Jerk Tommy let her go, there is something that comes across in her recordings that is totally unique. It's her spirit, her personality. She was also reputed to be very beautiful and quite young at the height of her popularity. Legend has it that there was a minor revolt among her fans that wanted Edythe back. Long live Dee Dee Wright.

  • wonderful recording
