July 8, 2008. Dismantling the Goliath crane requires constructing a support system to hold the full weight of the crane while the the lower pieces are removed. As lower sections are separated from the structure and moved away, the upper section is jacked down -- eventually to ground level. Ironworkers from Local 7, Boston will be on the job for nearly a year for this one-of-a-kind project.
