Just a quick video of me messing about on my Oberheim OB-8. Please excuse the rubbish playing (and noisy keys) but hopefully this will give you an idea of the sounds you can coax out of this beast.
A feature in many early analogue synths (and some current synths) where if you play a across an octave or a chord, or any bunch of notes really, it plays each note one at a time either in sequence or randomly.
So different. The Harley Davidson of Synths. Raw, basic, unreliable and limited in its application. But detune 'em a bit, stay in the low mid frequencies, and it's like heaven. Punches thru any mix, no matter how many dums and guitars you got. A Beast!

Envelopes are not as fast as the P5. Almost as fast as OB-Xa which still is mushier than the P5 which in turn is slower than the JP-8.
OB-8 is still a beautiful instrument.
