Final Fantasy XII - Boss/Esper Battle #22/5: Dr. Cid/Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud

After defeating Judge Gabranth, Dr. Cid appears and dismisses Gabranth. Much to his anger, he attacks Cid, only to be defeated with Venat's aid. Cid turns his attention to the Sun-Cryst and using the three shards (the Dusk and Midlight Shards in Cid's posession and the discarded Dawn Shard) with Venat's help, he's brought forth a spilling Mist, bleeding out of the Sun-Cryst. Cid now teaches the party a godlike lesson and attacks.

Again, a straightforward battle with no surprises (aside his special attack)... until his HP is down to about half. Cid then summons the esper, Famfrit and it was time to do a not-so-old stragety of mine. If you remembered my battle with Slyt, it was like watching a replay and Famfrit when down causing minimum damage. Turning back to Cid, he had a new special attack but it was as worthless as his other one.

Tips for Newcomers:

-Have a Echo Herb gambit somewhere as Famfrit's Waterja has a possibility of causing Silence or equip a Rose Corsage.

-Famfrit's affected by Oil so in conjunction with Fire (his weakness), pound him away with powerful blasts of Firaga (or Ardor).

-As before, Dr. Cid's guns ignore defense, so be at a high enough level (or at least equip some Light Armor for high HP).

-Have a Viking Coat to be equipped on someone to be completely immune to Famfrit's water attacks. This is completely optional as you can win without it but why not make things easier.
