My favorite song of all time written by the incedible Jerome Kern. I have nearly every version of this song ever recorded and I have never heard it sung more beautifully or emotionally. Bernadette Peters is one of the greatest performers of our, or indeed, of all time!

@stopsign82 When she sang this song at the Royal Festival Hall in London it was actually in the late 90s, and her husband passed away in 2005.

I have always been a fan of Bernadette Peters. I can tell you she was singing this song to her deceased husband. The inflections, pauses...she was doing everything not to cry. Such a tragedy. I always think of my love whenever I hear it and can only imagine her thoughts.
