  • I think it is a great move from Sun.

When we think of medical history for example and the pioneers, some people went against the rules, and today doctors know how the human body works.

I feel sure that it will help many people from all walks of life to improve their lines of code. Just like med students look in the human body to see how it works, here coders can look inside a program, how it is made (I may be wrong, I am not a coder, just a computer enthusiast. Please correct me if wrong)

  • Holding out means nobody knows how to fix your car when it breaks down but qualified professionals that charge high dollar only. A big example, Youttube limiting my ability to post a comment of adequate length makes me have to post repeatively. If someone knows how to fix that it would eliminate headache for alot of people.

  • More developmental progress sooner, better results and improved stability, versatility, competitiveness, financial benefits, more realistic developmental approach. It wouldn't take you a million years to invent the next big thing and could be trendy. Or how about this, if a person find a bug you didn't, they might also provide a solution and everyone might benefit from a more stable environment.
