@CaneFu Hi. Just wanted to add in that, you only over develop the anterior deltoids when doing bench presses if you are doing them incorrectly i.e rounding the shoulder a little or a lot at the top of the movement. If you have this problem then you should learn that in order to maximise pectoral involvement and minimise deltoid involvement, you should keep your scapula (shoulder blades) pinched together throughout the entire movement and squeeze the pecs at the top (focus on peak contraction).

@123manny321 Yes.Thank you for your textbook defenition. I do know these basic facts but when you are having a pointless argument with an idiot you can bend the facts a little ;) Normal lateral raises don't hit the anterior delt but this gironda version does, my mistake.

why ? why not just do side raises then front raises later in workout .. i do not see the advantage in this . does anyone actually know please?

@onetao8 Hate to point this out but lateral raises are performed in the frontal plane (arms going out to the side). This targets the mid-deltoid area more than any other. When you bring the arms up in front of you, you are working in the sagittal plane, which targets the anterior (front) deltoid, like the front raise exercise. Pretty basic fact.

Your a dumb fuck and your English is terrible. Here is a tip, if you don't want to watch videos showing exercises that work the anterior delts don't watch video's titled lateral raises. That was the mistake YOU made and then you had the arrogance to complain about the video when it showed exactly what the title said. This is why i wanted to pull you up on it. If you can't understand that i don't care. Peace.

NOPE, you used a bad analogy because I never met the guy that who overdeveloped his legs, but EVERYONE overdevelops front delts because everyone does some kind of bench press - either flat, incline, or decline - and that's a fact.
You're a newbie in the gym if you don't understand that.

@CaneFu That is like saying "squats are shit because my legs are too big and i want to work my chest" ! Just because you have over developed anterior delts doesn't mean everyone does and it doesn't take away from the validity of this exercise.

I feel this exercise mostly in the front delts with some side delt stimulation and zero in the rear dells and that's my complaint with this exercise....none of us need anymore front delt development. I think time and energy would be better spent doing some type of rear delt exercise rather than over-working the front delts with this exercise.

@CaneFu As someone who just came off shoulder surgery, I can say that the movement combines several exercises they had me do as part of my physical therapy. The shoulder relys on more than just the lateral deltoids for stability. Most guys have over developed Anterior heads from curls and benches. This exercise works on the delt, chest tie-in.

@greenbricks420 @greenbricks420 Actually, no. Physical Culturalists were around in the 1800's long before steroids were even a twinkle in some biochemists eye. Even the Greeks and Hindus understood the concept of strength conditioning. The Spartans participated in and exercise called "tree fucking" where they lined up like they would in battle and and pushed against the back of the man in front of them trying to push the tree down to build leg strength.
