Books & Beyond is a collaborative service-learning project that connects three unique groups of people from around the world- The Global Village Living-Learning Center at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN, U.S.A.), Newark Collegiate Academy (Newark, NJ, U.S.A.), and the Kabwende Primary School (Kinigi, Rwanda). College students at Indiana University are paired with high school students at Newark Collegiate Academy and the writing partner pairs work together to author and illustrate childrens stories which are then compiled into a book and taken to Rwanda to be used as English language learning materials. Eventually, the Rwandan students will also contribute their stories to the anthology, creating a cyclic project that results in the creation of new stories every year.

This video showcases the first year of the project.
