Hey Coop, I watched your video again and noticed the 1817 Large cent is one of those altered ones. It no longer says ONE CENT on the back (a U replaces the E in cent). I've heard lots of stories about these coins but I'm not sure what is the truth about them. Something to do with prostitution maybe?

@Daddydigger1 You are correct, They used an engraving tool for making printing plates and modified the coin. They are called brothel coins. If ya look at the obverse of the coin you will see a die crack in the date. That variety is a newcomb 12 and is very scarce. Mine is a mid die state so that makes it more valuable than the later die state with a die crack around almost the whole obverse. Thanks for watching again HH coop

Wow, coop, that 1797 Liberty coin is a great; and rare find! That was only 4 years after the US started minting coin currency :D
