I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when I was nine years old. Crohn's disease is inflammation in the digestive system that very painful and makes it hard to absorb nutrition. After I was diagnosed, I made it my goal to raise awareness about the disease and make sure nobody who is suffering from it feels alone. I created Project CURE to accomplish that goal. For Project CURE, I make and sell bracelets to raise money for Camp Oasis. Camp Oasis is a camp specifically for children who have Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. I have been going to camp for four years and it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. For some children, this is the only time they get to interact with kids who are dealing with the same problems. In an ideal world, everyone who has Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis would be able to attend Camp Oasis. While it costs $1000 per camper, families only pay $250 and nobody is turned down because they are unable to pay. Camp Oasis relies heavily on donations in order to stay running. So far, Project CURE has raised over $7500 for Camp Oasis. Lets see if we can double it for next year!
Thank You!
Laurel
