Atheist in North Carolina is "sworn in" using a "solemn affirmation" instead of "so help me god," and the fundies are apoplectic. Says in the North Caroline constitution that someone who denies the existence of a supreme being can't hold office. Of course, the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states you can't have any religious test for office, trumps that, but these buck-toothed banjo-players don't care.

  • People bitch all the time about following the Constitution. But it's right fucking there. Wipe your fucking bitchy ass tears and stop hating on religion.

  • @hieldjiv What is right where? Who is "hating on religion" here?

  • Fuck you, USA.

Slowly losing your rights to the religious and not caring enough to do anything about it.

So glad I ended up not moving there...

  • @WirlWind494 I beg your pardon, but we ARE doing a lot about it. Organizations such as Freedom from Religion Foundation, American Atheists, the Secular Coalition for Reason, etc, are VERY involved in putting a stop to nonsense like this. We've had some successes also. I personally spoke in front of the Texas State Board of Education to put a stop to teaching "Intellligent Design" in schools, along with around sixty other like minded people that day and we won!

  • I FIND HIS LACK OF FAITH REFRESHING

  • @Abbadon380 From the atheist Darth Vader? LOL

  • Cecil doesn't stand a chance with a tie like that..

  • From the U.S. Constitution: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof;.. no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." Article VI. State v. federal constitution - see Supremecy clause, above.

  • @ChuckyJesus666 Nice! The fight goes on!

  • @ChuckyJesus666 LOL im not atheist

  • @havoc873 interesting, most of convicts in jail are not very religious people, so??? yes, there is some pastors and priests in jail, but they are minority. Criminals are secular, ppl not interested in religion, deal with it

  • @trifulquita15 With kind regards of course. :)

  • @trifulquita15 And why supposedly are Europeans lacking in morality? We have fewer murder per 100.000 citizens than the US, our incarceration rates are lower, the standard of living in Western-Europe is better than in most parts of the US, better income equality. The US has 737 persons imprisoned per 100,000, Denmark only has 59. We don't need an all seeing eye in the Sky to keep us on the straight path.
