This is the Duncan McFarlane band performing their acoustic songs an hour ago at the Ingleton Folk festival (they're still performing - the electric part of their set.) This is one of the many songs I have sung along to both at many of Duncan's gigs and via CDs on long car journeys to the isle of Skye and Jura - it's great that so many of his songs have lots of space for folk to join in: for the folk, by the folk and with the folk.
Living Tradition said some nice things about him: "'Duncan has an obvious feel for the tradition and a deep-rooted belief that it has a place in the current folk scene, aspects which he puts across with lively showmanship.
'His own songs show a canny grasp of, and response to, the tradition, while his intrinsic seriousness of intent and approach is often laced with a healthy irreverence that happens to be hugely entertaining'
Couldn't have put it better myself. You can also find out more about the band and their gigs at www.duncanmcfarlane.co.uk
