Which is your favorite picture? Mine is the one of Bill & Chelsea Clinton, Dawn's is the butterfly picture.

Dawn played this song for me after watching the movie. I liked it so much I had to make this video. Also, many thanks to spacestevie for the track. Dawn says: "It is so touching to see so much love in these fathers and daughters faces."

Trivia: Father and Daughter was originally released as a single. It is a notable addition to the Simon anthology mainly due to the fact that the song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song. Written for the children's animated film The Wild Thornberrys Movie, it was released in 2002. The song also appeared on the movie soundtrack album and again on Simon's 2006 release, Surprise.

If you leap awake
In the mirror of a bad dream
And for a fraction of a second
You cant remember where you are
Just open your window
And follow your memory upstream
To the meadow in the mountain
Where we counted every falling star

I believe the light that shines on you
Will shine on you forever
And though I cant guarantee
Theres nothing scary hiding under your bed
I'm gonna stand guard
Like a postcard of a Golden Retriever
And never leave till I leave you
With a sweet dream in your head

Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loved his daughter more than I love you

Trust your intuition
Its just like going fishing
You cast your line
And hope you get a bite
But you dont need to waste your time
Worrying about the market place
Try to help the human race
Struggling to survive its harshest night

Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loved his daughter more than I love you

Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loved his daughter more than I love you

  • My husband and our two daughters have such a close bond. Yes they have their little spats, but they always have understood that if they need daddy, just call and boom he's there. To have watched him father them from the day they were born to the day our oldest walked down the isle to get married... is just amazing. I am glad that our girls had that kind of wonderful relationship with their daddy that I didn't have.

  • this is so my father/daughter dance song for my wedding...my dad doesnt know it! BUT he will love it!

  • I can't believe how much I love this song. Makes me think of my daughter and ex-husband, who loves her with all his heart. He's in Africa now on vacation and we're in the states . . . both of us missing him for her. I can't wait until he safely returns to her. That is the most beautiful father/daughter relationship I've witnessed to date. What a gift. Marriage or no marriage, I'll never regret us coming together to make sweet Josephene Li. Thank God.

  • My dad bought me this CD when he was away over my birthday - And now I'm singing it for my A-Level Music Performance coursework!<3

  • i just watch the wild thornberry movie too

  • My favorite picture is the one where they are dancing on the beach. I love this song. It makes me cry everytime. It's so beautiful.

  • here he grew tropical plants. He'd show me the new growths, and we were both in awe over them. They were so small and soft.

Here's to you, Daddy. You always had, have, and will have forever a special place in my heart.

  • Listening to this song makes me cry, and reading the comments always makes me cry harder. I'm so lucky to have a daddy like mine. I was born when he was sixty and he's seventy-seven now (but looks a heck of a lot younger!), so I know I'll never have as much time with him as others do with their dads.

Even so, I still count myself lucky to have the time I do with him. When I was younger, he would wait for me to come home, and he'd be so excited! He'd take my hand and lead me to the kitchen w

  • <3 ahhhh one of the cutest songs ever.....

  • That's a song sung by a dad who can see his kid. I wrote a song all about how my daughter was lied to about me for 18 years.

I haven't seen her since she was 2.5 yrs old. She lives in Europe. Divorce is a nasty thing to live through. It hurts every one who can't se who they want to see.

When i found her on facebook when she was 17, she basically didn't believe anything i said.

We argued about why she calls herself after her mother's maiden name and not her given name . Then she blocked me.

  • Why hasn't Paul Simon received a nobel prize yet?

  • @kjoeherring

Roseanne Cash is Johnny Cash's daughter.

Roseanne is his first born with his first wife. She has a beautiful soulful voice just like her dad's.
