Nigeria:
Working together with local governments to create a hideous and virtually hopeless social and environmental disaster. And then denying it all.

Ireland:
Trying to apply same kind of obsolete colonialistic logic of repressing the locals in Mayo. And denying everything again.

Shell is living in a lie in a same way that the worst psychopaths do. It must pass the era of internal and external denial.

Your so full of crap? Nigerian terrorist create their own problem. Its not in shells intrest or the goverments interest to BOMB pipelines... Get your facts right..

Ireland: I hardly think paying BILLIONS of euros worth of tax is 'repressing' the locals... Again, get your facts right.

You have researched the "billionsof pounds of tax"? You checked out that there have been no tax breaks given to Shell for the building and developing of the site? Correct?
BUT what about the fact that this is Irish gas we will have to BUY back from Shell? what about the cost of policing the area with Gardai and Naval personel...we pay that, no one is billing Shell! When the gas is depleted, Shell is gone and we will be left with the envirnomentl bill, waste land and a broken community.

Shell have been given no tax breaks at all. Infact, Shell and others have to pay allot more tax. Goverments take an excise and tax the profits - no other companies in the world are subjected to this level of tax. This more than covers any bills - The cost of policing an area has to be born by the people of that country, its not Shell's faults that ireland is so lawless...

I understood that the State imposes a tax rate of 25% of profit, against which Shell can offset all the costs of exploration and development of the site...This was reduced from 50% in 2005. There will be no royalty payment to the State, Shell will not be paying anything into .coffers until it has recouped its costs.
I do not believe that standing up for yourself, your family and a way of life is being "lawless" I guess that would make 1916 very unreasonable in your opinion ??

I think people forget just how much use Oil is in use. Not just as a fuel source but to make other products. Plastics being the major reason why oil is such demand. Even if there were alternative fuel sources demand for oil would still increase so unless everyone becomes more green in the way they live their will always be demand for oil, not solely for fuel purposes.
