Note: Recorded on cellphone; looks best in a small window. The Mobile Garden installation on a CTA train cart for Art on Track. A yearly art show that takes place in Chicago and rides around the L. The Mobile Garden is a concept by Joe Baldwin who wants to install a garden on a train for three months out of a year. The garden was installed in a couple of hours by six volunteers and lasted for 5 hours during Art on Track before being dismantled and the train cart returned to its original state to be used in transporting commuters. It took 400 sq feet of sod, numbers plants including annuals, perennials, tropicals and houseplants.

  • Nice!! I love people's reactions and I really like the view of the city from inside the moving garden.

  • @TheGardenFaerie I think the view of the moving city while the plants stay still inside the train is what inspired Joe Baldwin to come up with the idea for a mobile garden.

  • yes, I saw your logo!... This train project is a cool idea. I like it that the people who own the train let the project happen! & i believe that the actual "spirit" of plants being around us can change peoples' outlooks... this video proves it... Thanks for sharing..
