How do you cut then paste so that the pasted layer covers the entire 'New Layer". One example, I will cut out an object or a person. Then I make a whoile new file and want to paste that in . Problem is I always wind up with either too much white space or image iis only partially vieweable, it gets cropped. both extremes are not acceptable.

@ROBOBABY1000 Wait for a while. It might just be loading slow.
If that doesn't work back up all your brushes (if you've added any to gimp) and find a folder called .gimp-2.6 (See my brushes tutorial on where to find it.) and delete it.
If that doesn't help, completely reinstall.

I can't count how many times I lost that damned layer box, and I looked on one screen, under the main window, under the browser, on the other screen, under the rock ;P, usually I find it somewhere in the menu, but yeah, the Gimp approach to interface philosophy is a bit tricky (!) ;D I have to say though, that it starts to make sense once you get more than one screen.

@sEweron Watch my other video on why you lost the layers dock in the first place.Link to video is in the FAQ on my channel. Basically because it makes sense to close it. The video will explain it better.
