someone posted this video awhile back on youtube but it was from a diffent angle and claimed it was from a 1978 concert recored on 8mm film

Well...this is the only copy we made on that day, using a Nokia phone:) funny to think that others are claiming this as the real thing, when it quite clearly says it was done at the aftershow of one of the film shoots! Still, I've not seen any other footage, which seems quite surprising given the amount of cameras there;)

they were actually performing for the filming? wouldn't that just be looped in during post production?

They were performing live over a drum backing track, if you follow me, for the filming. This was a live performaance after the shooting had finished, a present for the extras present during the filming. The fact that they could actually play the tracks very well was just amazing!

i relised aged 15 that joy division were always goin to be the most important band in my life.25years on and the rest of the world gradually catches up.they will prove to be the most important band since the beatles.i hope Martin(rip) gets his dues in Control.seanx

haha itd be fun to see one of those ridiculous cell phone filmers we see in todays audiences in a film abouta post-punk band from manchester during the late 70s

They are not a band. Just a bunch of actors that they got that could sing and play instruments. They jammed so much during rehearsals that they became kinda like a band. They became good enough to play the songs live to add some realism.

well, not with the same atmosphere, power and intensity as Joy Division. that is impossible, no one can recreate what Joy Division brought into the world, they can only make there own little inferior copies
