  • I'm making this right now, but my recipe is different. Been buying this stuff for years. I love it. I sure hope you have the different beans growing in fields that are close together, because that's a lot of work for the guy picking the beans. And he must shake the bag because all the beans are mixed up.

  • This soup is awesome. I decided to make it for the first time after spotting the package. I used smoked sausage instead of ham and I think the higher fat content of the sausage made a really nice broth. Be careful on how you simmer the soup. Some beans didn't seem to cook all the way when I had it too low, and when I turned it up, too much water steamed off and I had to add more. The house smelled awesome and everyone kept asking me if it was ready yet and loved it when it was. A Winner!

  • Made some for dinner tonight. It was excellent.

thanks a lot for letting people know about this, i was unaware. Boil them for at least 10 minutes, people!

  • you have to cook the beans alone for a few minutes, and then change the water, it's unhealthy if you don't throw the first water, besides that, great recipe :)

  • I tried the Cajun Hambeens recipe today and it was awesome. From the taste and smell alone it's hard to believe that this wasn't made in Louisianna. Added Italian sausage like the bag suggested although I was sceptical...worked great. Added salt and fresh black pepper at the end, and doused my bowl with Louisanna brand hot sauce. Heaven in a bowl ;)

  • those are some heavy duty burners !!!

  • I ate this earlier today & it gave me the worst smelling gas I've ever hadd. Very good though, just don't eat it before a date or church.

  • This is a fantastic product! Used to live a few blocks from the factory in Indianapolis where they make it.

Been eating this since I was a kid and still love it.

You can do a lot of different things with it too.

  • very good video, I cook these with smoked sausage. These have kidney beans so you need to boil them for at least 10 minutes or you will poison yourself. If you crock pot them, make sure you bring them to a boil for 10 minutes. Raw (uncanned) kidney beans have Phytohemagglutinin which is poisonous but is deactivated and made safe after at least 10 minutes of boiling.

  • perfect time for some hambeens. got 2 left oven ham bones, and a bunch of ham.
