CSS sprites are a fantastic way to speed up the loading of web pages by combining multiple image requests into a single one. In order to ensure that the different pieces are shown as independent graphics, background-position values must be altered. Unless such values are exact, the result is an armature-looking product.
That said, in this video, I produce a sprite for a project I'm currently working on and use a Mac tool called SpriteRight.

Great stuff. I learned something. As you exported the image it seems that you can check the option to have the CSS exported as well. All though, writing the CSS manually does tend to be a better lesson for the sake of understanding. Thanks.
