@GenuinelyInquisitive what made us great was our relationship with God as a nation , we now have lost that so we have lost our greatness , John Adam's father was a minister , John was trained throughly in the bible but decided to become a lawyer , he and a couple of the other founding fathers were wise enough to enter into a covenant with God when they initiated this Country

Cultures evolve, jhunted7667. Things change over time. The United States was during the time of its founding significantly less ethnically, religiously, and politically diverse than it is today. With the introduction of these influences comes change.
Christianity is still the largest religion by population in the USA, but the population has come to believe that it shouldn't hold a hegemony over the culture and its politics. Time marches on, and the people have spoken.
