A Beit Safafa Demolition

On March 17, 2009, the Israeli authorities demolished a portion of a house in the Bait Safafa neighborhood of Jerusalem. The Arab residents were outraged when the house where they had been living for the past 7 years was destroyed without any prior notice.

"Since the beginning of year 2009 until the end of March 2009, the Israeli Municipality of JERUSALEM has issued 349 house demolition orders for Palestinian houses in Jerusalem city. Furthermore, the municipality has executed 45 demolition orders, of which, 25 were residential houses, 13 were Bedouin barracks and tents, 2 walls, 1 garage, 1 warehouse, and 2 offices and a Gas station."

I live in Beit Safafa, and they didn't get the permission to build the top of the house from the municipality, that's why they demolished the top.

I live in Jerusalem and if you take a tour in Arab neighborhoods like Silwan Issafiyah A ram you will see hundreds and hundreds of beatyfull vilas currently built.I spoke with the people involved and most of them indeed have proper papers and premitions from Jerusalem municipality for building

26 in Arab parts of city and 88 in Jewish neighborhoods.Not a single house was demolished in Beit Safafa in 2009.

Thats why all of them are considered illegal as they are not able to get permision from Israeli government (although based on UN law it is not Israeli land) and every day you see them being demolished like this.
