Conceived by Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, Complexions Contemporary Ballet has always sought to distinguish itself by grounding their cutting-edge choreography and original music within the roots of classical dance. The power of their dancers and the electricity of their performances are showcased in two exciting programs on stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
Program A features the Southern California premiere of Loose Change, a dramatic solo created for Richardson by actor Taye Diggs and Rhoden's Chapters, set to the timeless music of Marvin Gaye with songs like "What's Going On" and "I Want You."
Program B includes Pretty Gritty Suite, a homage to the music of Nina Simone with soulful classics like "Feelin' Good" and "I Put a Spell on You." This program also features Richardson in the graceful solo, Lament and Bound by guest choreographer Nicolo Forti.
Both programs include Rhoden's Dear Frederic set to Chopin and Moody Booty Blues.
