Yes, a lot of people believe that the new pop, as in Taylor Swift, version of country is the real country. I'm not a big country fan myself, living in NYC but my father is in love with it. This version seems not to get as much recognition as it deserves.

I think it has more to do with the fact that I'm an atheist. I usually don't relate to country music. I grew up in West Los Angeles and that's about as far from country as you can get. It may be the wild west, but definitely not country.
