  • Tell me, have you spent a decent amount of time gazing at the trains arriving at the real station?

  • @super58173

I've actually worked down there a few years ago doing some data collection, counting passengers boarding and exiting the train. It was quite fun actually because we had to get a a sense of how the switch points were thrown to anticipate which track the next train was coming in on before passengers made it to the train.

I've spent a fair amount of time there. Any particular reason why you ask?

  • @marylindsayrr - The uneven way the other trains were lined up... the appearance of the long thin platforms themselves, how the tracks were lined up, and the way the NJT train slowly crawls in without changing speed before slowly coming to a halt.

There was no way you could have built this without being in the real station.

I have had a great deal of experience down there and have ridden through plenty of times. I make it appoint to suck it all in when I have the opportunity to spend time down there. Asside from the maze of double-slips, the basic track layout is actually quite simple as it's "simply" two apposing "Y" shapes facing each other laying on their sides with the "stems" on the East and west ends.

If I had my dream layout, it would be impossible to shoot this scene from that vantage point

  • is penn station a kit?

  • @xrecon815

Penn station is not a kit. Most stations have to be built from scratch. This video relies heavily on imagination and is more focussed on the train which was operating in real time according to actual timetables. I made the platforms from scratch.

  • @fatzGeronimo

Hi, These are HO scale trains. The NJT stuff is hard to find these days as Atlas hasn't reproduced the ALP44 and Walthers has yet to re-release the Horizon cars.

  • what scale. im looking for n njtransint
