Diving Puerto Galera

Sabang's incompetent dive shops have caused us quite a bit of pain, but the underwater experience completely makes up for it. With over 40 spectacular dive sites close to shore and plenty of snorkeling off of Monkey Beach and Big La Laguna Beach, we have managed to look beyond the sloppy service and, instead, look at colorful coral, fish and crustaceans. It's been a while since we went there and I really don't remember the place we stayed. There are so many hotels and guest houses....We actually didn't do anything outside of Sabang because we were there for diving.

But if you have time, go to Donsol in Southern Luzon to snorkel with the whale sharks. It's absolutely fantastic. We also made a video about that, just look through out channel.

Hi Tony and Thomas.

Thank you so much for your wonderful blog. My mum and I are going to Philippines in Jan '12 and have 2n/3d to spend on Palawan. We don't dive but are keen to snorkel - can you recommend a good place to stay in Sabang for a night or 2? And recommend other places to see/things to do near Puerto P (we need to stay close due to our flights!)

Any advice would be so welcome. I hope Bali is treating you well.
