Quetiapine makes me fat, Quetiapine makes me sleep......I also ramble on about other eating disorder related things, self harm and just general Mentalness
I'm also on the slow release and usually it does knock me out too but during the last few weeks i've been taking 500mg and 200mg of lamotrogine and i'm still finding it difficult to sleep :( As for the weight gain, i put on 3 stone but have managed to get rid of some of it, but i still get cravings to eat the contents of the fridge especially in the evening and i'm pretty much always hungry!
@ohqwertyuiop . ...seroquel made me not wanna for a day or to sometimes I had to make myself eat something & it was very hard to hold down type of feeling. :(
Quetiapine takes a long, difficult time to get off. I've been on it for a long long time. I've gained a lot, and I mean a lot. There's a forum somewhere (I have the link on my phone and can't remember what the site is called now) which is for people on Quetiapine and for people coming off it. It shows all the dangers and all the people who were on it for a while and what happened to them etc. I'd get off it before you're on it for too long.
A good idea if you want to come of it long term is to add in another mood stabiliser drug e.g. Lamotragine and then with your drs support come of seroquel. Take care xx
Great to hear from you, I gained a tiny bit (2kg) of weight on quetiapine which wasn't because my appetite increased but because I was sleeping more. The grogginess gets better as your body gets used to the drug again, please increase it as the drs say because you need to be on 400mg at least to get the proper benefit from it and if you aren't the risk of becoming very depressed again is huge :-( A good idea if you want to come of it long term is to add in another mood stabiliser drug e.g. Lam
Its sad news to have such sideeffects, good luck.

@Ilovebobbetty Yeh they say "The benefits outweigh the negatives" but don't stop to think that gaining weight could trigger a depressive episode!

Took quetiapine 50 mg with alcohol, I completely loss my mind for at least two days

Yet you found coffee to be the antidote to fatigue from seroquel.
Seroquel at bedtime is the best time to take it, at the lowest dose.
