  • 0:44 The doors went herp-a-derp.

  • @PhillyFan20 I think it was on railroad.net where someone said that if they would stop running the 4000s in mixed consists all the time, they might have better reliability with those cars.

  • @tommyboy6181 Yeah, I've heard people calling for Metro to retire the 4k series. The equipment on the 4000s are extremely outdated and they need to be rehabilitated (e.g. the 2k and 3k series) as they are approaching the 20 year mark. In the 7k series procurement documents, the 4k series are said to be fully compatible with the 7k series after rehabilitation.

  • @Joey83812 They still can be to an extent. I remember riding one when there was a lot of rain one night on the stretch between Fort Totten and Tenleytown and it had me thinking "will this train ever stop?" The braking was very jerky that night.

The CAF trains were notorious for door problems in their early years. Now that they're 10 years old this year, they are considered the least reliable of all the AC cars in the system according to Metro. Only the 4000's are worse in reliability.

  • By then CAF Trains were too scary and my parents let me wait for a Breda or a Rohr.

  • By then these CAF Trains were to scary!

  • Yeah, that's why trains have to be offloaded for door problems. You can override the doors, but you can't do it with passengers.

  • actully, what from i know is that even when the trains doors are not closed, the train can be controlled to move. but the alarm to the doors will be turned on -on the operators cab -- and the train operator can lose her/his job thats why operators dotn wanna do that

  • I remember that they did that to me, since someone put something in front of the doors as a joke =\

  • nyc subway r68 is better look it up on youtube
