http://www.searchenginemarketingtraining.co A beginners guide to search engine marketing. Search engine marketing is the practice of using search engines like Ask Yahoo and YouTube to bring your business product or service to the notice of businesses or consumers who are intending to buy.

The primary issue is to understand the phrases that businesses and consumers are typing into search engines when looking for a specific product . It is the a process of maximising a website to be found in the top ten search returns for those popular phrases that were input to Google.

However, that is a long way from the end of the challenge. Once you are presenting your website on page 1 of Bing, you then have to attract the consumer to click on your link rather than others in the top page. Once inspecting your business website it is then a case of presenting the viewer with an immediate sense that you are a trusted authority in your business field, that you deliver only what you promised in the search returns and demonstrate the consumer that it is seriouslyeasy to fulfil their expectation , often ending in sales.

Now you need to present excellent customer experience to any sale completed as well as high quality after sales service. Does this look like an awful lot of work ? Well it's no more work than any successful business needs to complete and there are obvious benefits to an online entrepreneur, not least that they are small cost to set up and low price to run in comparison with other types of commerce.

So let's go back to the beginning for a moment . Firstly we need to identify what words are being searched by the public that match with your business . We do this with a free tool from kinds of search Google called the Adwords Keyword Tool. It's easy to find on Google . You can input a collection of terms and see how many others are searching those and similar terms a month online. It's an obvious way to select the keywords that you are going to optimise your business website.

Let's agree that you are in the business of selling car wheels. You see on Adwords Keyword Tool that one of the most searched terms each month is "second hand tyres" and that's what you sell. So you decide that is the term you are going for. Before we go any further you need to understand the competition for that term and how much time and effort will be needed to get your website on page one. You can see the competitors using another free tool which is a plug in for the Firefox screen. It's called SEO quake. Download and place it onto Firefox. Now enable it. Now put that phrase "second hand tyres" into Google and press go.

You will discover that SEO Quake tells you critical information about the top ten entries on Google for the search term you input . Details like the age of the domain url, the quantity of indexed pages on Google, the number of inbound links and the Page Rank.

In my next article I will continue to explain how to interpret these terms and assess whether it is realistic to get your business website onto Google Page 1 ahead of the competition.
