If reincarnation is true & we come back physically as another, new person,then in spirit, how can we still be the same person as we were in the past life & retain memories of such? It deeply saddens me to think that the "old" person may forever cease to exist due to reincarnation. I need to find this answer because my beloved 18 yr old son has just passed. The only hope I know of ever seeing him again is in spirit, when I die. Please help if you can.

Perhaps think of like this.

You are not the same person now that you were when say you were in first grade.

However, you are still you.

You probably do not remember what you were wearing or who you met on August 3, 1999. However, if hypnotized, you may very well be able to remember every detail.

In-between physical lives and after the reincarnation process is completed, all memory is available and in much greater and richer detail than during an actual physical incarnation.

@gailmjd I'm sorry about your son. You WILL see him again and again in the afterlife. We have voluntary amnesia regarding past lives when we come to a new linear life. You will be comforted and fascinated to read Dr Michael Newton's books "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls" and Dr Brian Weiss books beginning with "Many Lives, Many Masters". You can also find Youtube videos by these authors. "Conversations with God" and other books by Neale Donald Walsh has similar information. Bless You!

Reincarnation only happen when the spirit is happy to come back. Your son will wait until he sees you and until he is comfortable about returning if indeed he wishs to. They never return until they mett all their loved ones from the last lifetime. Usually 200 years or more I am told.

Although one does choose when, how, and if one will physically incarnate, there are no "rules' about what must happen first or how long one may or must take.

It is all inividual choice. Some, particularly very inexperienced souls, choose to come back almost immediately even without reviewing the options available.

Others are more reflective and take more care about various aspects of the next physical incarnation.

It works this way, your over-soul is the original self that will always either expand or deplete. Reincarnation simply means you take a different body, and perhaps a different gender and parents, for the purpose to learn from those experiences. Your soul records those learning experiences and expands. A person is more than what they appear to be in there personality in a particular life-time. Pure consciousness is our original state and that has no genetic structure, or gender. Blessings!

Dear gailmjd...My heart just falls to my stomach hearing about what you are dealing with. I guess 2 months have passed for you since your son transitioned. My daughter passed Nov 6 2007. I have always been an intuitive, but it was not a help when I lost her, she was my life. If you wish contact me and I can explain what I have known about the other side my whole life, it could help I dont know.

Each person is so very individual in nature that generic descriptions are of little value (as are most books that discuss dreams in general terms).

Meditation takes commitment and regular practice and is highly worth the effort. Reading books on your area of interest can be of significant value also.

It all depends upon what you wish to achieve. Connection with one's entity can be very rewarding, as can lucid dreaming study and OBE's.

Contact with one's entity is my particular choice.
