@sparktastic1 I'm glad someone else agrees about lights nearer 3000K. I have tried HIDs of 4300K and 6000K and the 4300K were better and a touch brighter. In rain the 6000K seemed to bounce off the rain itself...reducing visibility. Take a look at the AUDI LED headlights, they have 5 LEDs inside a complicated lens to project light to different segments of the road. They are really interesting to look at and brighter than HID.

LED is the way forward.

I like to see it when its done. I was looking into doing something like that but the heat sync was a big issue (space and mounting). Lots of cars are moving to LED headlights, retro fitting could make some money.

I am looking at using two 50 LED's for a set of car driving lights.

There are cheap 12v - 30V DC-DC converters available now and I'm thinking a nice 75mm aspheric lens in front of each emitter should work quite well :-)

Think I prefer the 3000K unit. Despite producing less raw lumen outout than the 6000k unit, the warmer light reflects better off vegetation and penetrates moisture (rain and mist) better too. Plus it's less annoying to oncoming traffic.
