Here we have one of the Garwood rear loaders you'll find on the Central Coast, this one being a Maxipact which travels through the residential areas in search of bulk-waste piles. The cool thing about these trucks is that they are all equipped with a crane system, which is a very rare sight down here in Australia. However, the driver told me they try to avoid using the crane, because it goes pretty slow.

I was really determined to see this truck and get videos of it that day... probably the truck I wanted to see most with the idea of the crane, not even being used in the end. It was a real pain trying to find this machine, as I didn't see any of them around during the day and I couldn't learn of their whereabouts as the trucks didn't seem to have radios at the time. I hung back there for literally over an extra three hours, circling the same area three times, hoping to find a serviced pile somewhere for a trail to follow. In the end, I finally found the truck at about 3:30pm, tucked away in a street, on my way to the train station when I had finally given up. Luckily, there were a few piles to take care of nearby - I would've gone further on if I had any energy left in me, but that wasn't the case.

A big thanks to the hard-working driver who spends all day collecting these numerous piles of heavy garbage. I would greatly appreciate all ratings and comments I can get after all the time I waited to get this truck on video. Really hope you enjoy the action!

  • Hi Mitch, I live in the Gosford area and have a big absession with garbage trucks particularly the Thiess Services ones. We have three different models of bulk waste trucks, manual packing trucks with no specific features (3), the one with the small crane (4) and a new introduced one with a lifter on the back to lift bulk waste in (2). This new lifter design is more practical and stronger than the crane and is a lot quicker. I will try and upload a video of this unique and much larger truck.

  • @Thunderstorms19 Well you've joined up to the right place then, cool to know there's another Aussie interested in garbage trucks. An interesting read about the bulk waste trucks, I'm definitely keen on seeing a video of the newest type =] Let me know when you throw something up.

  • @MitchellM15 The truck that you filmed here is truck 85, I can tell by the smaller loader and black crane. Aussiegarbo13 had filmed one loading for 10 minutes, this truck was 88 and is bigger and stronger too with a blue crane. It did struggle with the mattress but it is most of the time more powerful than 85. The new trucks are 89 and 90 in case you notice them on the Central Coast. What happened to Aussiegarbo13's account and video?

  • @Thunderstorms19 So you know the fleet pretty well up there eh? Not sure what happened with him, a mystery for now. That truck was packing hard in his video; he just had to pull the blade back a little to relieve the packer of some pressure and allow more space.

  • this is awesome!!!, makes you wonder how the hell these things are designed, i think its incredible! great video 5 out of 5

  • @heatran345 Thanks. These machines are extremely interesting when you think about the engineering deeply hey? Some of the technology is amazing =]
