The town I grew up in had a whole fleet of these Loadstars. Dumps, flatbeds, and most of the school buses were Loadstars. You have some of interesting machinery but I keep coming back to this truck for some reason.

What does the truck weigh empty?

You mentioned the truck was geared fairly high I was wondering what ratios are in the 2-speed rear end.

Hey good video showing how to split shift. I think my 74' Loadstar has the same transmission shift pattern as yours, but I am not sure if I'm doing it right or not. This is a good video. I have been starting in low on mine and splitting up into high from low 4. So from low 5 to 4 high, then 5 high? Check out my videos with my truck if you get a chance and you can tell me if I have it all wrong! Thanks.

What speed were you pulling that hill at? It didn't look like your speedometer was hooked up.
