i live in ohio by lake erie and funiest thing happened last december my little cousin (4) threw his shoe at the ice and a whole chunk cracked lol

That's right!! According to Wikipedia, the last time it was 95% to 100% froze over was in the late 70's early 80's due to the severity of the cold.

Cool! My mom lives in Erie & is always telling me about the frozen dunes and that the lake actually freezes over. But, until I saw this video, I have never seen it either. Thanks for posting it!

I just did the exact same thing, but on the Canadian side....Rondeau, Ont...after the frozen waves, it was a sheet of glass...played a lil shinney and took a few vids....will post them soon....great vid!!!

this lake and ontario are both relatively shallow so total freeeze should not be a surprise but if Lake Superior freezes from Michigan to Ontario, that's FREEZE ! I used to live in the Upper Peninsula in Marquette County so the weather can change within half an hour from flat calm to roaring storm...

Actually, this lake isn't really frozen solid, but it sure looks that way from where I was standing. In fact, my buddy ice fishes on Lake Erie and catches all kinds of Steelhead.

only the south egde is frozen.not the whole lake.
