  • I would be SUPER careful with plastic fencing, a fox got into my friends and ate 5 of 6 hens. you coop in beautiful though!

  • @emanderin1 Right now we live in a VERY urban area... no predators at all. However, we're moving deep into the NJ Pine Barrens soon, so thanks for the tip. We're going to need some heavy-duty security.

  • hi :)

    your coop is awesome!

i was wondering what materials did you use for the fence,

aaand what breeds are your chickens?

    thanks!

  • @pappasjo The "fence" is plastic deer netting. It's so easy to use and very durable. I have 2 black cochins, a partridge cochin, 2 speckled sussex (my best layers), 1 splash silkie, and 2 English game hens (bantam).

  • @genghisgirl thanks :)

but what did you use to attach the netting to the posts?

  • @pappasjo plastic zip ties.

  • @sexofonico For a chicken born in April you can't expect eggs until late Sept. Anything later in the summer and you will be waiting for next spring. I live in NC.

  • @NilsKills I used mostly new lumber and paints, so it cost me about $400 start to finish. It could cost much less using scrap wood ad leftover paint.

  • I love the decor of the chicken coop!

I built a Rabbit Hutch and was planning on painting the outside in a simular way.

  • Your yummy!!!
