I think these instruments don't overblow so wel (if at all)l like actual Clarinet's (invented by Denners or the circle), Calumeaux is earlier folk instrument , refined later by Denners (like this model) and some others.

sehr schön, wollte schon immer mit der Klarinette Barockmusik machen, auf den Vorgänger das Chalumeau bin ich nicht gekommen. Jetzt weiss ich, was die nächste Anschaffung ist :o)

super idee! aber auch auf der modernen klarinette ist die interpretation barocker werke nicht undenkbar. ich habs auf den tenorsax vorgemacht auf meiner cd "vivaldis world"

Can you tell me something more about the Chalumeaux ? (fingering, is it easy to learn, who makes copies etc.) I wanto to learn to play it !!!

its a copy from Denner (Nürnberg),made by Wolf (Kronach/Germany) this instrument is an early clarinet, fingering very similar to recorder, embouchure is like tenorsaxophone (more relaxed than modern clarinet). Look for info at Wikipedia!
