What kind of a maniac would put her daughter in front of a Train during an Occupy Protest to block its path?

99% of America views these Obama Approved Occupy Protesters as the Extremist 1% they Are.

  • @Votinfemale, I highly doubt you have any experience of the sort. Otherwise you would be more careful of making judgements of this woman.

Yes trains will hit something if not stopped. The operative word there is IF.

I do hazard assessments for the transport industry.

You do not hear her say she put her kid on the tracks. You don't see her kid on the tracks. She just makes a generic comment about relying on goodwill.

  • @Devilgal0148 I don't care if you doubt me or not. You don't matter. What I said about my railroad experience is the absolute truth. I was an engineering consultant for Union Pacific.

That you defend this moron 'Lotus' bespeaks your ignorance and political left-wing bias.

Go find an intellect "Devil Gal." I don't debate imbeciles.

  • @Votingfemale,

Ever seen a train travelling at a crawl? They stop very quickly.

Did you actually hear the woman say she put her daughter on the tracks? No. If she had said that, don't you think they would have broadcast her saying that? Strange that they didn't...

Additionally are you aware that train drivers get radio updates about blockages on tracks? Given the coverage of the Portland OWS, not knowing about this blockage would have been next to impossible.

Also, are you aware that differ

  • @atalanta44 I have professional experience in analysis, design and programming of centralized train dispatch command and control systems. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

Lotus responded by explaining her thinking about the potential for harm by placing her baby on the train track. duhh

If a train driver does not stop their train it hits what is in front of it. period.

There is no reasonable justification for placing a baby on a train track to block a train... EVER.

  • We only have the media guy's word for it that that is what she did, and people are conveniently ignoring the fact that what would happen depends entirely on the individual circumstances. There are these things called variables. These variables include:

    1) The speed of the train. If the train is going slowly, there is a good chance it will stop.

    2) The actual weight of the train. Rarely are trains 'fully loaded' or even close to that. The less weight, the faster the train will stop.

    Get brains!

  • @atalanta44 BTW, here is a question for you...

How much does just a locomotive itself weight?

Answer: about 200 tons. That would be about 400 thousand pounds.

  • @atalanta44 liberals can rationalize anything - thats why liberalism is considered a disease

  • @Devilgal0148 u do hazard assessment for trans and you dont see a hazard in laying on railroad tracks? lol yer kidding right?

  • Faith in humanity... only if the people aren't rich.

  • @Votingfemale cont:

aware that different trains have different weights? Plus obviously they vary from when full to empty. A lighter train will stop faster than a heavy one.

The bottom line is, it is stupid to accept the word of someone you most likely don't know, about another person you probably don't know, in a situation where you don't know all the variables.

  • @atalanta44 By all means go put your children on the train tracks and test your theories about trains outbound from a marine port. Make sure you call or text the engineer's cell phone to prove the engineers dont text or chat on a cell phone while operating a freight train. ;-)

And she defended putting her daughter on the tracks. Obviously you didn't watch the video.
