How to obtain the best possible pricing for your MPLS network.

Until very recently, a company with multiple locations would need to work with a single carrier to obtain an MPLS network. This was important because the MPLS circuits of different carriers were often not compatible. Businesses that have attempted to patch together the networks of more than one carrier find that they end up with many "throats to choke" in the event of service outages, rather than one provider that is responsible for the entire network.

In these scenarios, it is not uncommon for carriers to point fingers at each other when the simplest of problems occur. When utilizing multiple carriers without a single provider responsible for the reliability of the network, incompatibilities are frequent. Network efficiency is reduced, and the business customer's costs and resources needed to keep the network operational are often extremely high.
For these reasons, until now, no major provider has taken on the extreme cost of offering a completely meshed, true, any-to-any MPLS network, which combines the facilities of several carriers.
The downside of using only one carrier for an entire network with multiple locations is that each carrier specializes in providing services for specific locations. Several larger carriers can reach almost all locations in the United States, but because distance is a major factor in pricing bandwidth, locations that are remote to the network of the carrier are often extremely expensive for the carrier to reach. In telecom, locations that are expensive for one carrier to reach are often not expensive for a different carrier that has a local presence for the same location.

Another important factor that should be mentioned, is that carriers often specialize in services that are unique to their offerings. These offerings are often location specific as well. Wouldn't it be better if a customer's MPLS network could utilize the service that best meets the needs of each location to their network, rather than being required to use a more expensive service because that is the only service their carrier can offer for the location?

For example, some carriers can only offer more expensive services (like bonded T1 or fractional DS3) for specific locations. But for the same locations, other carriers may be able to offer far less expensive services such as Ethernet.

What if you could obtain the most efficiently priced type of bandwidth service of several carriers for each location on your network? The price savings would often be many thousands of dollars per month.

Now, a major provider has taken the initiative and invested the substantial resources to offer a completely integrated MPLS network that can combine the best offerings of several carriers. With this offering, there will only be one "throat to choke" in the event of a service interruption, in addition to potentially saving thousands of dollars per month. One provider will coordinate all provisioning, provide all customer service, and combine all services on one bill.
