Perdido Street blues Climax Jazz Band Japan 1995
During our first trip to Misono in Japan in 1995 we played a number of tunes I had not posted on youtube and dailymotion before. After not having seen this video for more than 10 years that the Japanese sound and video engineers had produced I decided to present you with some of that concerts material. Here we play a tune first recorded by Johnny Dodds New Orleans Wanderers in 1926. It was written by Louis Armstrongs wife Lil Hardin. The Wanderers were basically the Louis Armstrong Hot Five, only without Louis, I believe because of contractual reasons. He was replaced by George Mitchell on Cornet. Throughout all my jazz playing days it was always a favourite.
Bob Erwig cornet, Pieter Meijers clarinet, Len Gosling trombone, Jack Vincken banjo, Chris Daniels bass and Jamie Aug drums.
